Massive quake to 'strike Earth TOMORROW' just weeks after devastating Indonesia tsunami

A POWERFUL earthquake could strike this week just two weeks after the devastating Indonesia tsunami killed thousands, a self-styled tremor forecaster has warned.

Earthquake researcher Frank Hoogerbeets warned a major magnitude 7.0 quake could strike tomorrow.

His website Ditrianum.org issues earthquake warnings when Mr Hoogerbeets thinks the alignments of celestial bodies mean tectonic activity on earth is going to increase.

The current warning reads: “Several planetary alignments on the 12th and 15th are likely to trigger a seismic uptick from 12 to 17 October, but the 12th looks most critical with the potential of a high 6.0 to 7.0 magnitude earthquake.”

Papua New Guinea and Bali were both struck by strong earthquakes this morning, raising warnings of a possible tsunami.

A magnitude 7.0 quake struck about 118km east of Kimbe, West New Britain, on PNG, followed by aftershocks of magnitude 5.7 and 5.9.

Just over an hour later, a magnitude 6.3 quake hit farther northeast on the island.

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake also struck off Bali at a depth of just 10km, causing brief panic among residents as buildings shook, but there was no potential for a tsunami and no immediate reports of major damage.

And at least 10 people were killed after a magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck near Haiti on Saturday night.

Indonesia suffered a devastating 7.5 magnitude earthquake and tsunami last month on the island of Sulawesi killing more than 2,000 people.

Mr Hoogerbeets, 49, uses a non-scientifically recognised way of predicting earthquakes based on planetary alignments with Earth, but has built up several followers who are convinced he is right.

His latest warning said we entered a "critical period" today, which will continue until Saturday.

He told Daily Star Online: “The current seismic uptick that peaked 7.0 magnitude in the New Britain Region so far, is probably not the end.

“This ent

ire week would be critical, with emphasis on the 12th.

“It saddens me that most scientists do not take these warnings seriously.

“They have not learned to look at the planets and therefore simply assume that it is pseudoscience. It’s not over yet.”

These are the planetary alignments that Mr Hoogerbeets said are a concern:

  • Sun-Mercury-Jupiter, 2018-10-10, 2:50 UTC
  • Mercury-Earth-Uranus, 2018-10-10, 17:20 UTC
  • Mercury-Venus-Uranus, 2018-10-12, 1:30 UTC
  • Mercury-Venus-Earth, 2018-10-15, 20:11 UTC

He added: "Especially the combination of the two alignments on the 10th generated strong electromagnetic amplifications, resulting in the sudden seismic uptick yesterday night.

"The Moon also played a major role as it lined up with both Mercury and Uranus yesterday morning. Without that Moon's position, the seismic uptick probably would not have been as severe.

"Yesterday's planetary geometry is very similar to that of October 25/26 2015 when a magnitude 7.5 earthquake occurred in Afghanistan."

Mr Hoogerbeets said the quakes could strike both the West/Northwest Pacific and Central/South America, but it's no guarantee.

He admits he also relies on messages from spirits, crop circle formations, and so-called "key Earth dates" in order to predict when earthquakes will strike.

He claims to have previously predicted a string of major earthquakes across the globe, but is ridiculed by mainstream scientists who say the position of the planets has no impact on seismic activity.

But, Mr Hoogerbeets has made several predictions with distinctly mixed results.

There have been significant quakes after some of his warnings, but he is no longer specific about where they will strike or the exact day.

In December 2015 he was mocked after predicting a powerful magnitude eight earthquake that could “change the world forever” would strike on the 11 or 12 of the month, only for it to fail to materialise.

Astronomer Phil Plait, who writes for New Scientist, previously said of his predictions: “Let me be clear: No, it won’t. It can’t.

“There is simply no way an alignment of planets can cause an earthquake on Earth. It’s literally impossible.”

Mr Hoogerbeets said seismologists needed to take note because "whenever the three objects in our solar system lined up there was a significant earthquake anytime from the day before to one or two days afterwards".
