Xiaomi Mi 5S has been rumoured for a while. But now it has been confirmed that the phone is real and is coming on September 27. The phone, at least initially, will be launched in China and Xiaomi has already sent out invites for the event where it will be showing the phone.

The Mi 5S is expected to look similar to the existing Mi 5 but is likely to be more powerful. Much more powerful, at least on the paper. The phone will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, will have 6GB RAM and possibly 256GB internal storage. It is also likely to sport a 5.15-inch screen with quad HD (1440p) display.

But despite a compact design, one thing that may truly surprise the Mi fans is the rumoured battery inside the phone. It is likely to have a 3490 mAh battery inside its glass and aluminium phone.

The phone is likely to use MIUI based on Android Marshmallow. It will also have a 16-megapixel rear camera.

or Xiaomi the Mi 5, when it launched in February this year, was its most important phone in almost one and half years. Although a good phone, it hasn't set the market on fire the way the Mi 3 did a couple of years ago. One of the reasons why the response to the Mi 5 has been lukewarm is that the competition has picked up the pace. In India for example, where Xiaomi launched the Mi 5 powered by 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820, the phone seemingly lost to the OnePlus 3, which had a similar price -- around Rs 3,000  more -- but offered consumers a Snapdragon 820 running at a full speed of around 2.2GHz, a bigger screen, more RAM and more storage.

It seems likely that the Mi 5 is all set to meet the challenge posed by the OnePlus 3. At least that is what the rumoured specifications hint. Currently we are not sure when, if at all the Mi 5S, will come to India. Although if it does, it may cost slightly more than Rs 25,000, especially considering the fact that the Mi 5 currently has a price of Rs 23,999.
