President Biden will conduct a crucial family gathering. Following a dismal debate performance, it was expected that the future of the re-election campaign would be discussed.

Amid rising demands to resign, President Biden is allegedly planning an important family gathering at Camp David. The president is scheduled to address the status of his re-election campaign following a particularly bad debate performance on Thursday night. This comes after prominent Democratic contributors raised worries about the president's physical and mental condition to properly face opponent Donald Trump in the 2018 US elections, according to multiple sources.

Biden expected to discuss the ‘mess’ with family

As reported by NBC News, the 81-year-old commander-in-chief is scheduled to hold a confidential meeting with his family members at the 125-acre country retreat. The meeting, expected to include his wife Jill Biden, children, and grandchildren, is set for late Saturday. Initially scheduled before Thursday's debate, the situation has since evolved, prompting concerns over his reelection bid. The President is likely to seek family advice amid the growing ‘mess.’

At the moment, it looks like President Biden has no intention of backing down, as he told supporters at a rally in North Carolina of his unflinching dedication to defeating Donald Trump in the November election. Although Biden has strong support from key party leaders such as former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, reports that a number of other important party figures, including Representatives Hakeem Jeffries, Jim Clyburn, and Nancy Pelosi, have expressed reservations about his chances of winning, despite continuing to support his re-election campaign.

“Of course he’s not dropping out,” clarified Lauren Hitt, Biden’s campaign spokesperson, addressing speculation about potential replacements, according to AP.

“Speaker Pelosi has full confidence in President Biden and looks forward to attending his inauguration on January 20, 2025,” Pelosi’s spokesperson told NBC following reports she privately expressed concerns after Debate disaster.

Leading Democrats think that Biden deserves to decide what happens next. Despite significant internal problems, Biden maintains control of his political future. With 99% of the committed delegates from this year's Democratic primary, he has a strong mandate for the nomination. This implies that any decision to replace him must come from him first.
