The meeting discussed United Nations projects in Yemen concerning humanitarian, health and relief operations, and specially focused on the effects of the recent cyclone Luban.
Most affected by Luban were Yemeni families living along the coastal areas of Mahrah province, who were buffeted by heavy rains accompanied by strong winds.
Worst-hit was the city of Ghaydah, which reported huge damage to infrastructure and network services as well as residential homes, and resulted in the displacement of many residents who evacuated to schools for temporary shelter.
The Yemeni prime minister urged UN organizations and international organizations to provide more assistance to those affected in the disaster-stricken province and to assist in the rehabilitation of infrastructure and utilities.
Meanwhile, Grande praised the cooperation of government agencies in facilitating the work of international organizations operating in Yemen.
