Hafiz Saeed a security threat to Pakistan?

New Delhi: Pakistan Defence Minister Khwaja Asif has called Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief and Mumbai attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed a security threat to his country.

Speaking at Munich Counter Terror Meet in Germany on Monday, Khwaja Asif said Hafiz Saeed can pose a serious threat to the society, reported Pakistani newspaper The Nation.
Saeed was detained under Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) on January 30 this year. "Saeed was arrested in the larger interest of the country, The Nation quoted Asif as saying.

Earlier on Monday, Hafiz Masood, brother of Hafiz Saeed told CNN-News18, "My brother is under house arrest and he will be kept under observation by the Pakistan government. He is under strict watch and there is a lengthy procedure to meet him."

He also said that the ‘crackdown’ on Lashkar-e-Toiba chief and US-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed is a direct result of pressure from India.

"The proscribed organisation's front Jamaat-ud-Dawa continues to function under the “supervision” of the Pakistani government," Saeed’s brother added.
Earlier, Pakistani jihadi orgnisations including JuD had claimed that the US under Trump had pressurised Islamabad to put Saeed under house arrest. However, in his telephonic conversation with CNN-News18, Masood said the organization suspected it was New Delhi that had forced Islamabad’s hand.
Interestingly, despite his disappointment that Pakistan had bowed down to Indian pressure, Masood did not openly denounce Islamabad or the Nawaz Sharif government.
