Bitter anti-Trump protestors arrested after activists hurl rocks and bottles at police

AT LEAST seven people have been arrested in Vice President-elect Mike Pence’s home state after anti-Trump protestors hurled rocks and bottles at officers.

Protests have continued across the US as angry Americans rage against the election of President-elect Donald Trump.

But protests took a turn for the worse in Indianapolis, after an officer allegedly fired a pepper spray gun at protestors as they walked down the street.

It is currently unclear why the officer decided to use the weapon on protestors.

But angry activists returned by hurling projectiles at officers, who the police department described as simply “trying to keep the peace”.

Police at another protest in Portland have also reported being victim of bottles thrown by angry anti-Trump campaigners.

At least five people were arrested, but more are expected to follow after local law enforcement claimed hundreds of people marching were “subject to arrest”.

Police Chief Mike Marshman had told people earlier in the day to stop their anti-trump activity and not let protests roll into another night.

He said: “If you’re upset with the election, please don’t come out and protest.

“We are done with criminal activity in this city.”

It comes after a protester was shot as demonstrations against Donald Trump’s presidential victory continued to rage across America.

The man was attacked after reportedly getting into an argument with a motorist as he marched over Morrison Bridge in Portland, Oregon.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and the attacker has not been caught.

Meanwhile protesters smashed shop windows, sprayed graffiti and damaged cars as they clashed with police, who used tear gas and rubber bullets to quell unrest.
