Muay Thai fighter Christian Daghio dies after tragic KO

MUAY Thai fighter Christian Daghio has died after a tragic knockout in Bangkok.

Daghio, 49, was thrust into a coma after his WBC Asia title match against Don Parueang on October 26.

But he died on Friday, leaving behind his wife and five-year-old daughter.

His heartbroken brother and manager, Fabrizio, confirmed the death.

He told Italian media: "Christian died as he wanted to die, that is in the ring.

"He dreamed of fighting until he was 80-years-old.

"The ring was his life and he died as a champion."

Daghio has over 200 bouts to his name and won seven world titles.

He fought at both Muay Thai and boxing, and had been living in Thailand for more than 20 years.

Horror footage shows the moment the veteran fell to the floor after being punched.

The referee could be seen rushing to hold his head up and remove his gum shield, before calling for help.

One mourner wrote on Twitter: "Honour to Christian Daghio. RIP.

"Italian champion of Muay Thai."
